Is your pond looking murky? Are you battling stubborn algae, unpleasant odors, and stressed aquatic life? The problem might be simpler than you think: stagnation and stratification.
Just like the air we breathe, the water in your pond needs circulation and oxygen to thrive. Our Pond Aeration System (Destratification System) is the solution, transforming stagnant water into a balanced, healthy, and vibrant ecosystem.
The Problem: When a Pond Strangles Itself
In many ponds and lakes, temperature differences lead to layers—a process called stratification.
- Warm Water on Top: The sun heats the surface water.
- Cold, Stagnant Water Below: Cooler, heavier water sinks to the bottom, where it remains largely motionless.
This deep, stagnant layer often becomes anoxic (lacking oxygen) as decomposing matter consumes the dissolved oxygen. This leads to major problems:
- Unpleasant, sometimes sulfuric, odors.
- Release of sediment phosphorus, which fuels massive algae blooms.
- Stress or death for fish and other beneficial aquatic life.
The Solution: Artificial Destratification and Aeration
The IGS Water Aeration System works by actively reversing this harmful layering and circulating the entire water column.
How the System Works:
- Deep Water Draw: A water intake manifold draws water from the most stagnant, low-oxygen areas (the depths) via a pump.
- Conditioning & Turbulence: The water is passed through a Water Conditioner, where carefully designed low and high-pressure zones create powerful turbulence. This increases the contact ratio and begins to change the water’s properties.
- Oxygen Injection: The water is then mixed directly with air in an aerator chamber, significantly boosting the oxygen levels. This process also subtly alters the electrical charge of minerals, resulting in “softer, wetter, more aerated healthier water.”
- Thermal Flow: The highly oxygenated water is released, with pulses of air creating a buoyant, thermal flow that ensures continuous circulation, mixing the shallower and deeper layers.
This constant, gentle mixing process ensures warmer water moves up while oxygenated cooler water drops down, effectively destratifying the pond and maintaining high dissolved oxygen levels from top to bottom.
The Key Benefits of a Circulated Pond
By implementing the IGS Water Aeration System, you will see a rapid improvement in your water body:
- Significant Algae Reduction: By oxygenating the bottom layer and reducing the release of sediment phosphorus, the key nutrient fueling algae growth is cut off.
- Clearer, Healthier Water: Odors dissipate, and the overall water clarity improves as organic matter is processed more efficiently.
- Thriving Aquatic Life: Fish, plants, and other beneficial organisms are more active and healthier in a fully oxygenated environment.
- Reduced Sediment Load: The constant mixing and oxygenation help to reduce the sludge and sediment at the bottom of the pond over time.
